From a creative family, Angourie began her career in Perth, Western Australia with several short films and national television commercials. She first came to industry attention with her work on Zak Hilditch's short film Transmission. Angourie travelled with the film to a number of festivals including the Tribeca Film Festival in New York and was awarded Best Actor at the St. Kilda Film Festival in 2012.

Following a national search, Hilditch also found he could not go past Angourie for a lead role in his follow-up feature film These Final Hours which won the Age Critics' Award at its Australian premiere at 2013 Melbourne International Film Festival. These Final Hours was then selcted for the directors' fortnight at the 2014 Cannes Fim Festival and will be released internationally in July 2014.

Angourie shot the lead role of Jade in the BBC / 20th Century Fox feature film Walking With Dinosaurs, released in 2014, and has a number of pending projects due for release in the near future.
